hey man, i feel like helping someone today

1. Remove
engine skid plate
2. start the engine and let it warm up for several minutes
3. stop the engine and place a container under the engine oil drain bolt
4. remove dipstick
5. remove engine oil drain bolt (bottom of oil tank)
6. remove engine oil bolt (crankcase) drain oil from the oil tank and crankcase
5. if the oil cartidge is also to eb replaced replace it.

no no no. you dont neccesarily have to take off the skid, just have someone turn the reverse **** while you take out the bolt. And you have to drain it from the oil reservoir itself, so that will be easy. Then you have to take off the oil filter with a monkey wrench or the tool for it and there will be oil in there so have a pan under it.

You do have to start it up so it will suck oil into the engine, and be sure to change your oil filter too.and after it sucks some oil in you will have to put more in.

I like the K&N oil filters, they have a 17mm hex at the end of the filter for easy installation and removal rather than buying some oil filter wrench for the stock yamaha oil filter.
