Edelbrock carb for raptor
#1
Well from having to deal with re-jetting my stock carbs and finding out what a pain in the @$$ they are, I wanted to see if anybody knew how good the single edelbrock set-up was? or any other nice set-up's?

ive heard they work great, and jetting is SO easy expecially on the "fly". i heard it raises power/throttle response accros the bord. i also heard that if you get really serious into the engine you have to either bore it out or get a set of FCR's. the edelbrock work great on semi-stock machines.

Yeah, I was looking at a set of 39 FCR's on e-bay, would those be overkill on a lightly modded bike? I do plan on either getting a higher comp. piston, or a big bore kit with the high comp. and ported and polished? how would it work on a set up like that?

i cant speak from personal experience on this, but i will tell you what i have heard. i know their is 2 sizes of FCR's, and i beleive the 39's are the bigger ones. those would definatly be overkill on a slightly modded bike, and even most Non- pure dragracing porting. I would go with the 36 ( i believe thats the size) FCR's for any bike not for pure dragracing. These are great carbs, with alot of potential incase you want to get serious with your engine in the future, but can be rather pricey. Alot of pro-builders (almost all!) use FCR's on raptors so you know they got what it takes!! Good luck! Ben.

The edelbrock is great for most rec riders and some racers. Lots of low and midrange power and enough flow for mild bikes. Easier to jet and cheaper than other alternatives. They do have a weakness with top end flow and power.
The 35mm FCR's would be prime for most modified raptors out there, some make good use of the 39's and a few experiment with 41's. I'm anxious to see how the new 700 can handle increased flow, and how much.
