Got a blaster cant get it started. Checked pretty much everything out and cannot figure out what is wrong. Has 120lbs compression, so its not that, its getting gas you can tell by the plug. And its getting spark. I have no idea why this will not run.. any ideas???

Did you try a new plug?? I have the same problem on my 88 blaster, it is a pain to start, but if I put in a new plug, it starts on the first kick and is ok for a while, then it does the same thing, and the only fix is another new plug. good luck

Yes plug was the first thing I tried, got a plug, new air filter, cleaned it all up, tightened all the eletrical connections, tightened all the screws, everything seems right... At first I thought it wasnt getting spark but I checked today and it is. The plug gets wet so its getting gas, We checked the compression again today and it was around 120. I have no idea why it will not run, gas and spark should do something?! any ideas??????? Ive tried everything but this stubborn piece of crap wont start..

Hey, I used to have a blaster and I went to the limits on it so I'm getting a Banshee. But they're a real pain to start. Make sure you have a quality plug (like NGK) then check to ensure your spark is BLUE. If it's not it could be your coil. This is very hard to check, but if you see a yellow spark it could be this. Then Check your magneto(Under cover on left side) it could have sheered off the key or simply a wire could have come off somewhere. To do this you have to pull the magneto off with a PULLER. I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND you take it to a shop to get the magneto pulled off if this is the problem. It is very expensive to replace and easy to BREAK!! Actually you might check all your wire connections first. Just checking, your key and Kill switch are both on, right? :P Don't fret, though, Two-strokes are real simple, Fire+Compression+Gas=Power!! Oh yeah, did you check your Fuel-Air mixture? That could be flooding it before it could start. Good luck. I'll check back later to see if you get it started.

You should have kept your Banshee. Everybody you asked told you to just fix your Banshee and one guy even offered to help you with his labor. Sorry you are having trouble. Good luck.

The banshee was a basketcase.. I really diddnt have the money to fix it up. At least this way when I get the money Ill have two nice wheelers instead of one.. I know a blaster and a banshee arent even in the same category but the blaster was plenty for me, the banshee was fu$%ing insane.
I just got a new NGK plug for it and still nothing, has a blue spark, has compression, has gas, just wont start.. even tried jumpstarting it but that diddnt work... it was kinda fun though.. the only thing that I can think of is the timing is off or something? But the only thing that happened from when it was running to not running is it got washed, so I was concentrating on that to figure out what would cause it to not start from the water but dont know... I dont see water messing up the timing....

I forgot, the key switch is disconnected, I know its getting spark cuz I saw it, and then I held onto it and kicked it over and yep it works... although the spark gets stronger the harder you kick it over, dont know if that has anything to do with it? Also the top of the carb is stripped, I put some of that pipe thin tape like stuff on it and screwed it back on somewhat... could that be the problem?

Recheck your spark, lay plug on head and kick over it should spark, know hold plug just a little less than 1/4 inch from head, if it jumps the gap from plug to head your ignition should be okay, but if it doesnt ,it is probably the sourcecoil{charge coil] that is weak, if it is weak the plug wont fire under compression. 15 years as a yamaha mech has taught me a few things, hope this helps.

This is a dumb question but if if all the eletrical stuff is working right when I hold onto the spark plug and kick it over should it make you want to drop it, almost hurt? or should it feel like a normal shock? lol

I checked it out again today, the spark looks good. However as I was kicking it over I noticed smoke coming from around the seat, so I took the air box cover off and the exhaust is blowing back out of the air box, think my reeds are toast? There shouldnt be any back flow right?
