The BF650 is a solid rear axle.

I didn't know people were still responding to my post. LOL.

Thanks guys, but I did it. I had a nice red Brute Force 650 delivered to my house today. It's awesome and I can't wait to tear up the trails with it. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them. I had to go with the BF. For the $$, it just seemed like the best deal. I'll ride on the stock tires until I get a flat or bend a wheel and then I'll replace with some Mudlights and ITP wheels or whatever else is a good aftermarket wheel/tire combo. I think I'll go up to 26-inches.

Lightman, what is this black secondary spring that extends belt life you speak of? Who makes one, where can I find one and is it difficult to install?

SEarch the kawasaki forum for the black spring, it's made by EPI. Anyway I'm not sure if they put an updated belt drive on the bf 650. Since it has a solid rear axle as opposed to IRS(independent rear suspension, which is something no atv enthusiast should admit to not knowing, shame!), it should be a fun machine. Hopefully it's not so big/topheavy like the bf750.

Captain, just make sure you get radial tires...if you are hellbent on mudlites get the xtr's..

Lightman, thanks for the info.

It seems like ITP rims are a good choice. Other than that, I don't really know much about this stuff. I would like to move up to a 26-inch tire if that isn't going to create any performance issues.

I am clueless when it comes to replacing the stock tires/wheels so I'm up for any suggestions. Why radials over non-radials?

My cousin moved up from the stock 25's to some meaty 26's on his Eiger 400 and we couldn't feel any loss of performance, acceleration might have slowed down a little but it's not noticable when the stock tires never hooked up right to begin with. If it 's not noticable on a 400 you probably won't notice a loss of acceleration at all on a 650.

Grizzman, the brute is certainly not an 'all around better quad' than the kodiak, they have their pro's and con's.. It's much bigger/less manuverable, the seat isn't nearly as comfy, it doesn't start as easily, has a weaker belt drive system, and rides rougher... LOL.... however it's got the sweet v-twin, wet rear brake, simpler to maintain (aside from the belt), and most importantly of all - he already bought it

Captain, radial tires are better for a lot of reasons. Mostly for better traction, better ride, and handling. The difference on my prairie was night and day when I switched to the holeshot atr's.
