My buddy has a 02 Raptor i just lloked at it and when you go to start it you can here the starter turn over but its not turn the motor over . i took the start cover off to see the gears the start turn over fine the other gears when you stat it just turn what could that be? sorry if i didnt explain this very goo if have any question please ask thats alot.

 

is it making a buzzing type noise? if it is you are free wheelin. put the quad in gear and push it foward until you hear the gears hit then try to start it. i did it to my old raptor all the time.

 

no the starter is turnin over i took the cover off and i see the gear from the starter and this other gear turnin but its not turn the mortor over see what im sayin

go for the L&A Designs one way starter clutch. Heaps better than the stocker

 

one way bearing. Get the L&A design one along with the new gear. I replaced mine a couple months ago and its been fine since. The entire kit will set you back about $270

 

the guy is lookin for a cheeper way out for now

 

There is a tempory fix for the one way but I would strongly recomend against this. Your buddy is just going to have to bite the bullet and hand some cash over. Temp fix to one-way starter clutch

 

It was the starter clutch for me, but now I have a different problem, since the quad has been sitting for a while the clutch was seized but when we got it started by bump starting it the clutch unseized and a couple minutes later its like a trans gear is stripped. With it in first gear or any gear at that i can push with ease. As soon as I let the clutch out the trans sounds like the gears are slipping, I'm just wondering if this has ever happened to any one or if everyone knows what it could be?
