Default Dyno runs

I have a pic of some Dyno runs in my album. When it is approved.

The 700 falls flat at 7k. Probably a Cam issue.

It makes a lot of torque quickly and maintains a broad flat curve.

KBR's Dyno is usually very stingy.

Curious to see that, where'd she top out at? I'm assuming by the comment about the dyno being stingy, it wasn't up where you expected it.

Actually it was higher than even the Dyno operator expected. He stated his dyno is usually a couple of HP less than some others.
We are also at 4500 ft here.

I also have no stock curve.

The lowest curves are with the TFI, Stock Pipe, and GYTR Filter.
We are working on getting a stock 700r to have a base for this altitude.

The torque curve on this machine is going to make it a awesome trail machine.

Pipe = 310
TFI =209
GYTR= 125

Less than $650 in mods.

I know there ar 60+HP Raptors, But how much is invested in them. and how rideable are they in tight rocky terrain?
This machine is perfect for how and where I ride

Cool, that's always a pleasant surprise.

Just so you know also, reason for my curiosity is not a me vs. you thing. About a week after I got the Preddy I was in the dealer grabbin some stuff and they had just rolled out the 700r. I had just a moment of "man, should I of...". You know how that goes.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the Preddy, but still think about the 700 once in a while cause they are nice bikes.

looking forward to seeing the bone stock runs on this dyno.. Then comparing the improvements and where they occured..

Great numbers so far.. They seem to say what we were feeling by the seat of our pants riding it..

They are not ridable in your terrain, that's why I kept my 02 660R, for the trails. Those 60+ hp Raptors can also be unreliable too, my 700R is strictly for the sand. How do you feel the 700R will respond to a new cam and piston with the compression bumped up, say 11.5 or so?

Looking at the chart, something is causing all the lines to converge to a general area then drop off. This is a classic sign of a torque inducing cam. ( Like The Old RV cams from the early 80's) they use timing to bump up low end torque at the cost of anything on the top end. I think with 11.5 and a good cam say a stage 1 Hot Cam (When they get theirs out shortly) will make the torque rise a bit slower but help the over rev and should pull strong to at least 8 depending on the grind etc. We are talking about just putting in a cam for testing just to see if it helps.

IMO....

I think that Yamaha purposly designs the cam to kill the power at 7000 RPM because the rod will begin to fatigue at higher RPMs. That rod was originally designed for street use, not off road racing. It is brittle and weak. I am suspicious that they are using the same rod in the 700 that the 660 used...probably because they had millions of them made.

Does anyone have a parts list for the 700R to confirm this?
