Default drag racing... shee vs. YFZ

The local drag strip just opened the beginning of this month. Im going to finish the rest of this year ( 3 or 4 more races) with the warrior. what i was wanting to know is which quad would be better. the strip is 300ft. of loose dirt. im planning to do quite a bit of modding, just wondering which would be better.

Depends. If at the end of the day, you want a reliable machine then the yfz450. You banshee can be made into a better drag racer thatn the yfz, but you need to get into the motor to do it.
If your just planning on pipes, intake and jetting, then the yfz450 will beat a banshee with pipes, intake and jetting. If you are getting into both of the motors, then the banshee will over come the yfz 450. There is a lot of power to be had in th 'ol banshee, just takes time and money, and VERY VERY good maintenance!

yfz........they are much more reliable and better running......plus you can do more than just drag them......shees are fast no doubt, faster than the yfz's but you can screw up a race on a shee pretty easily no matter how fast........

Shee's are only faster after a point in modifications. Once you start getting into the motor on the shee, it is usually game over for the yfz. But as far as bolt ons, the yfz will take a shee in a 300ft drag all day!

If you want to drag race, do your self a favor and get the Banshee....
You could buy one used for around $2500-$3000 in good shape... If you want to drag.... Put around 3000 into it and you will have a quad that NO yfz450 will ever touch....
Not to mention you will still have less money in it than a new stock yfz450...

Sad but true, a Banshee is the cheapest way to go fast. You won't have anything "special" though, drag Banshees are a dime a dozen. Be warned, drag racing 4 strokes is not a poor man's sport, there isn't 10 years worth of R&D to make speed cheaper.

If you are keeping your warrior for your everyday machine, then get the banshee. Make it a drag banshee. You can keep it fairly cheap, way cheaper than the YFZ... You will not compete with the big boys, but I would think that your local track you would be better off.

Pipes, carbs, head and domes, port work, true and weld the crank, open air filters, Heavy duty clutch springs, wheelie bar.

Thats a great start, But first find you a banshee that may have a bad top end and pick it up cheap.. Maybe it has a + swingarm.. extras.. who knows..

It will be faster than the yfz will ever be..

JMO...

If your buying a machine to drag race, what do you want, a 4 stroke single cylinder, or a 2 stroke twin cylinder?
