Who a GPS master?
#1
After a botched trip into the wilderness last weekend where my wife a few friends and I got lost for some time I am thinking of buying a GPS unit. There seems to be HUNDREDS of them. What do you use and why? Thanks for the input!

I have had two of them, one was a Garmin and the other was an Eagle Explorer. The Garmin was slow and had problems picking up satellites in heavty cover. The Eagle is more complicated but works really well.Go to a sporting goods store and try some out.
Hope it helped some,

Grandpa,
I use a Lowrance 100. I use it due it's versality and price. I paid $200, it's a mapable unit and is waterproof. Go to www.gps4fun.com. They have a wealth of information regarding different gps units so you can compare them side by side to see what would work best for you. I personally think that the Lowrance 100 gives one the most bang for the buck

I recommend the Garmin e-Trex. Simple to use but enough features to explore when you get more comfortable with it. Cheap to around $115 US. Can also be connected to a computer to upload download etc.
Version 2.10 is the latest internal software build.

Yesssssssss Gramps,Go with the garmin E trex!!!!!Hands down PERFECT!!Its only 100 bucks and you can get a handlebar mount and mount it right up on the bars like I did. This is the best mod I did so far.The best part about it is its only like 5 inches big and its yellow to match the coler schemes of my b&w Raptor.Hows the Raptor holding out Gramps??No more problems I hope?Have had mine out plenty of times and not one problemo at all.Damm I love this machine, wish I was riding her now.Well guess ill have to settle for the wife instead.
