First ATV ... 1995 Wolverine
#1
I ended up buying a 1995 Wolverine in very nice shape. I do have some questions however ...
1. Is there a place on the net to get a owner's manual or service to download (preferably free)?
2. Where can I find a front luggage rack?
3. The transmission sometimes sticks when going from reverse to 1st gear. It seems to have problems coming out of reverse and into neutral. After giving it some throttle and sometimes switching it off and moving the shifter with my hand, it will go into neutral. Suggestions?
4. Any suggestions on other service that should be done?

1. You can view owner's manuals dating back to the 98 models on Yamaha's website (look in the parts and service section). 99% of what you see in a 98 Wolverine owner's manual will apply to your 95. For a service manual, go to e-bay and score a factory service manual on CD for about $5. Best money you'll ever spend.
2. Someone is always selling a front and/or rear rack on e-bay. Not only are the prices alot lower than anywhere else, but they are usually in new/un-used condition. Often you can nab a brand new factory front rack for 40-50 bucks.
3. Reverse cable may need adjustment or replacement. Hard to say without being there to look at it. My Wolverine shifts in and out of reverse fairly smoothly.
4. I would change all the fluids (engine, front and rear diffs) and give the filter a good cleaning (if needed). Especially the diffs, people tend to neglect them and being a 95, god only knows how old the gear oil in them is. Check the battery level, tire pressures, and then ride the wheels off the thing. Wolverines are fairly bulletproof and you should get many more miles out of your 95.

Also keep in mind the 95 Wolverine is a carb "orphan" the 95 ran a 36mm Mikuni flat slide , there were some issues with throttle response and jetting that had some recalls that addressed them, the 96 on up use a 34 mm CV type carb, so parts for the intake and carb will not swap, other than that, not much difference, 2000 on up had some different parts in the front diff and driveshaft, so if you get a Warn 424 for the front end, make sure you get the right one. I love my 95, great ride, still is, haven't found a quad that has all the features I want to replace it, so looks like I'll be riding it for a while. I got a CD off ebay for a buck, 3.95 to ship, best money spent for a complete manual .
