#1
allright guys got a few questions i have a 04 yfz 450 just put on a armor tech pipe, pro performance air filter, and a gyt-r jet kit from yamaha. i am setting at 231 ft above sea level i used jet #165 main , 42 pilot 3rd from the top needle clip position and 3 turns out on the pilot screw at first i had the lib off the box and it would hardly run then i put the lid on and it started much easier just wouldnt idle i would have to give it just a tiny amount of gas to keep her running so i screwed in the idle screw enough now she will idle runs like a scared ghost almost scary but i noticed when i get in it and let of it is doing alot of backfiring just wondering which move i should make from here to try to alleviate the promblem thanks

Don't have to remove the carb!
Just loosen it up and twist it to the side (Not too far as the cables become tight). from there you can get pilot&main jets. Then unscrew gas tank and turn sideways. Now you can get the top off the carb with the proper t-handle allen wrench and adjust the needle. 15 mins tops once you do it a couple times.
Good luck!
