2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 4X4 recall?

Hey PGRSV, can you give us the details of what your notice says, or at least a summary of what exactly is being recalled per your notice (whole machine, certain part(s))? I haven't received anything via mail, all I know about is the tie-rod recall per what my dealer told me. Thanks.

I recieved a notice in the mail today of a recall on the tie rod ends only. The letter stated that the rubber protective boots were torn in manufacturing and allowed sand and mud to enter the ball and socket and wear the joint. I know this has been a problem, a buddies '05 Kodiak has 2 different tie rod ends come apart on the trail miles from the truck, of course, and luckly we were able to wire tie it back and slow riide back to the truck. He complained to the dealer and Yamaha customer service directly, sounds like it did some good.

Argyll: Captainskodiak post is right on the money. My notice says the same thing. Stopped in at my dealer this afternoon, and he said he ordered the replacement kits already but didn't receive anything yet. I told him I would stop in with him in a few weeks. He said fine.

Yup received mine yesterday to. I asked my dealer if that could have anything to do with my stering not being centered and he said sure and they would fix that under the warranty to when they adjust the toe-in. So cool!! He oredered me a kit. Who knows how long that will be but I'm not in a real big hurry.

Well whatta u know, I got my notice in the mail yesterday also. Same deal with my dealer. They've run out of the replacement parts and are waiting for a new shipment. I'm glad it's just the tie-rods and not something more serious.
by the way, the recall is for several models, Big Bears, Wolverines and Kodiaks. I'm sure anyone with a machine built in the effected year(s) will be getting a notice.

Took the Kodiak to the dealer today ( Obermeyer Yamaha in Jasper, IN), took the mechanic about 30 minutes to replace the 4 tie rod ends. Looks as if he did a good job, he said it the about the 10 th one this week, but had many calls the last few days, and they reordered more replacement kits, and they were on backorder, no suprise on that one. They replaced the ends only, same rods. Just before I left the dealer, I mentioned to the owner that I had intermitten problems with my Warn 2.5 winch, sometimes it just quits pulling on what I thought was easy for a 2.5 winch to pull. It was a Yamaha Warn winch, and he stated that if I sometime wanted to take it off ( I installed it) he would check it out. Well I decided to pull it off in the parking lot with my tools, it only took about 20 minutes, since it is an hour from home. When I unspooled to remove the hook, it wouldn't pull the cable back in. The owner of the business, Keith, took one look and went to the shelf and handed me a new winch no questions asked, WOW Was I SHOCKED, I was really impressed. Now I am even more pleased than ever with Yamaha. p.s. Keith said there was a possible recall or warranty replacment for the brake pads, he had rumors from Yamaha??? Let's hope
