k&n oil on foam filter
#2
You could probably get away with it for awhile, but eventually the solvents and dispersants in the KN oil will eat the foam. The KN oil is designed to work with the cotton fibers in their filters, not with foam. The foam air filter oil is cheap, and one small bottle can do at least 5 filters.

I used it for a while on a UNI filter and it kept any dirt from getting thru, but I cleaned and re-oiled it often. I would recommend using a foam-filter specific oil tho, it does protect your engine better.

No, youre not a dumbazz, if you ran it with out any oil, that would be dumb.
The foam is only designed to hold the oil, and the oil holds the dirt.
In a pinch, any oil, (even cooking oil) is better than dry foam. motor oil will end up dripping off, and leaving the filter dry, so when its posible, wash it clean and put the right stuff on. Any product which says foam filter oil, is the right stuff.
