Default Raptor connecting rod

What will the stock rod take? Would it take a 12:1 piston? Is it the rpm or the compression that kills them?

Not concerned with the weight just the reliability. The tranny locked up so since I am going to have it apart might as well hop it up some.

If your going to split the cases you might as well put a good after market rod in it. Cheap insurance IMHO, then you can get as wild with the rest of it as you want with out the worry of breakin a rod off in it.

RPM kills the rod, not compression.

I think it's a little of bit of two things. A heavier piston on a marginal rod turning to many RPMs.

So would the hot rod be good enough? Or if I need the carrillio where can I get it from? How does alcohol do in a raptor? Was thinking about mixing it 50/50. I should already have the jets to make it work and alcohol is easy for me to get.

If I end up with a 12:1 piston it would be race fuel. If not pump gas, ethenol already has alchol in it anyway. I have done it before in car engine stuff. Just have to be carefull with jetting and a consitent mixture.

Are you saying that you want to mix gasoline and alky 50/50? If you are, that won't work. About as much as you can go on the mix with gasoline is about 15%. Any more and it won't mix, it will just phaze separate.

Hmmm......you could be right. I have never mixed it that strong in anything, I just figured it would still work. How do they make the E85 fuel mix? Maybe they use some kind of emulsifing agent with that. Maybe that is a bad idea even messing with it.

Your talking two different fuels now. E85 is an ethanol based fuel. Methanol is what 99.9% of the racers run. Ethanol is very expensive. Why? Aaaaaaaa, because people drink it!!!! I wish I could get a gallon of white lighting for 3 bucks!!!! Now that would be something!!! It would make beer obsolete.
Running meth is a chore, for many, many reasons. Some love it; some hate it. On a cold day I can make almost as much power as a meth engine. On a hot day, aaaaaaaaa well, I'll get waxed.
Find out all the facts before/if you decide to go with 100% meth.
You can do what I have done in the past. Mix 10% meth with pump gas. It will give you slightly more power and also will raise the octane about 3.5 points. That's a bunch. Don't do this if your state already has alky in the gas. It might put it past the phase separation state.
You will get more power but you will also use slightly more fuel. But methanol is cheap so it's about a wash.
Sorry, can't speak about rods other than saying Carrillio makes a damn nice rod.
