How to fix a rim. Need help.
#1
I got a good set of tires with rims but one of the rim, the lug stud holes are worn out bigger. How do I fix this. I was thinking to weld washers or a piece of metal with a new hold ontop of it but I am scared that it will weaking the rim and the area where I welded causing it to possibly break. Anyone got suggestions?
Or do I have to get a new rim?
MIke.

alluminum...if you can weld alluminum go ahead and weld it. You cannot weld washers onto it or steel they do not bond with alluminum...i would take it to a machine shop and get them to fix it.

when welding aluninum go nice a steady and do not hurry it is alot softer then steel which makes it more easier to melt and if you rush you will totally f*ck your rim over if you are not to experienced with welding I'd get somone else to do it

not to mention that if they're not perfectly on center, it's either not going to fit right or give some vibration at high speeds.

Id get the new rim for $25. Picture this you weld wheel and believe you have it fixed, you load up with your buddies for a long day of riding. 10 minutes in wheel is messed up again and you sitting at the truck all day while your buddies ride now ask yourself is this worth saving $25.
