Default Raptor 660 fuel shut off?

I tried to run my carbs dry. I turned the fuel off and the quad just kept running. It is an 03 and the valve must work because I have had to flip it from on to reserve.
I left it run which seemed like 5 to 10 Min and then I turned the Quad off. Any Ideas or quick checks, or does it just take a while to run out?

There should be a off position on the valve.
If it has a pri position instead, then the shut off is controlled by vacumn.
Then there are a couple of things you can do. Pinch the vacumn line going to the gas shutoff valve, and run it til dry. Then youll need to go to pri , when you go to restart it. The pri stands for prime, and it turns the gas to on, whether or not it has vacumn.
Or you can add a shutoff valve. there are inline fuel shutoff valves, usually sold at small engine supply places, for about 4 bucks. It also works as a good theft preventer, if its hidden up under the bodywork. You just turn that one to off, and lightly rev the motor, to a high idle, and itll die in probably a minute or less.

It is the stock yamaha 3 position valve, on, off and reserve. I know the reserve position works. I guess i could pull the line off to see if the shut off is working. I am just being lazy. I just was not sure if it takes a long time to run the gas out of the carbs.
