A friend said that the 02 Raptor has the bad tranny like the 01, is that true or not?????

 

Nope!

 

It was fixed for '02.

 

no.. 02 and up the tranny was fixed.. thats why im lookin at 02 and up because of the 01 problems wit the carbs and trannys

Nothing, the carbs are the same from 01 through. The 01 carb boots were prone to slipping off the carbs and tears and were upgraded in 02 though.

 

Some of the 02 transmissions went out as well but nothing like the 01's. I would say you're pretty safe getting a 02.

 

The '01' carbs also have problems with the choke plunger and cable. The '02' cable is updated for water resistence, therefore not rusting the plunger or springs in the carb and making the choke stick in place.

 

Trannies on 02 are fine

Reasons for carb boots blowing off:

1. Running too small of a pilot jet
2. Idle too low
3. Using throttle when starting

Start Raptor with clutch in, netural and just hitting the start button

 

I am looking into getting an 02 raptor, so do I have any problems to look forward too? Any recalls or common problems?
