wheelies?

A one-wheel wheelie is hella hard to keep goin. I can do it for about 1/2 a second going from a bicycle to a wheelie. It's not impossible to ride out a one wheel wheelie, but I imagine it would be very, very difficult. You would have to find the balance point in two dimensions. (front/back, side/side) I'm just gonna stick with a good ol' fashioned wheelie. I could go quite a ways before, but it is more of an art now that I have a +4 swingarm. I am getting the hang of it though.

I don't recomend trying to wheelie untill the grab bar hits. I did this (on accident!) in second or third at the dunes on my new 700 last weekend. I missed the back brake and the grab bar hit the sand. The bike started to wabble back and forth and threw me off. Did I mention I was going fast! I hit the sand and tumbled and my new raptor cartwheeled. It hurt like hell! Still got a nice bruise on my a$$. My raptor got lucky and only bent the grab bar. Just remember where the back brakes are and hit them before you go all the way back!

You can wheelie in any gear on a raptor, the front end is really light and they come up easy. Pop it up in first and find your balance point. After you are there you can shift through all the gears and ride it untill you are out of room!! Takes practice, but after a while its a piece of cake.

One thing I sould point out with the rear brake thing, is be gentle with it. Your first instinct when it feels like you are goin over might be to stomp on the rear brake to bring the front end down, bad idea. If you do this, all your weight will be thrown forward and you won't be able to take your foot off the brake. When your front end comes down, you will still be on the brake which will cause your bike to stop (temporarily) while you continue to go forward. If you are going fast enough, you will go over the handle bars and land in front of your bike. Remember when I said your bike will stop "temporarily"? This now comes into play. Now you are in front of your bike on the ground, and there is nothing depressing the rear brake lever, so it has no reason to not continue goin forward, so it does. Right up and over you. It is actually quite an interesting experience, not really enjoyable, but interesting. So remember, tap the rear brake, don't stomp on it.

On of the most fun things to do on the raptor is jerk the bike up from a complete stop by droppin the clutch real slowly and leaning back all of the way with your arms completely strait....Try to see how far you can go that slow without stalling it or pullin it up on the bar...or just droppin it back down....
