Default Blaster fuel problem

My buddy has a ''95 blaster that sat for 5plus years, I Ohauled his carb, taking great care to keep the settings as they were. Once we got the carb back on, it was real difficult starting, & when it did, it revved full on 'till we shut it off. it was dark when we did the initial startup, & I don't have any time this week to help him( I've got 4 projects going), He's checked the reed valve & it's good, that's about all the info I got from him last nite..
Any suggestions?
