Default YFZ shocks on 700 Raptor?

I know that the YFZ stock front shocks will mount on the 700, but will Elkas or any other major brand YFZ shocks work on the 700? The reason I ask is I'm looking at getting better shocks for the 700 but not many are made yet but there are plenty of YFZ out there. So if they bolt right up why is it taking so long to get better shocks for the 700? They should be the same as the YFZ front end right.

Elka has 700 already. You can find them all over e-bay stores or your favorite race shop.

I know Elka makes them, but I'm wondering if there the same as the YFZ. I've seen some nice used Ohlins and Axis YFZ front shocks on ebay and just wondering if they will work on the 700. If so, then why do Ohlins and Axis have shocks for the YFZ and not the Raptor 700? So what I'm saying, will the YFZ shocks work just as good on the 700, or is the weight difference enough that it would hurt performance. Those Ohlins on ebay look great, but don't want to through money away if they won't work.

My suspicion is that the delay is something you already alluded to, valving. While the shock bodies may work from the yfz the valving for a heavier, differently handling and designed machine probably takes a little time to work out. From what I have been told by 700 riders, the yfz fronts from any manufacturer are a direct bolt on. That said, valving is a question. Perhaps a good comparison would be a set of yfz stock shocks on the 700, assume that any other aftermarket shock will lose a proportianate amount of performance to that lost by the stockers. Then again, I could just be talking out my butt. This is just what my experience and what I hear has suggested to me.

Thanks for the info. I know 06 YFZ a arms will bolt right up to the 700. At Housers web site the part numbers are the same. But the 04-05 part numbers are different then both. Did the front end of the YFZ change in 06? I need to make my 700 a little wider in the front (44" stock, would like to be at 46") but haveing a hard time getting a arms. Everyone seems to be selling +2 thus making my front about 48" wide. To wide for me in racing in the woods. I'm wondering if I get the +2 with 4+1 front rims if it would get me at 46". But thats a lot of $$$ and find out I can't.
