Breaking in my 700 Raptor....help
#1
I bought a 06 700 Raptor for my son and I (he...he...he) Are there any tips for breaking in this beast? I was flying down the street the night I brought her home...and was only in 3rd gear...wow! What a ride!

Change the Oil after the first 10 hrs of operation not 20 like the owners manual says. Don't hold it at a steady speed for long periods of time or at wide open throttle for long periods of time.
Other than that ride it like you stole it

Step 1...Turn on key.
Step 2...Hit start button.
Step 3...Let it warm up.
Step 4...Ride the crap out of it for a few hours.
Step 5...Change the oil.
Step 6...Enjoy your new ride.
I tried to throw a few steps in just to make it look long and complicated when it's really not.
I'm not joking either.

Personaly i dident wait 10 hours of engine time before I droped the factory fill. I ran maybe a tank or a little more threw it with out holding it at any certain speed for a long time. I then changed the oil and took it out and prety much rode it like I was going to with out realy holding it wide open for any amount of time. I ran anouther tank threw it and now there is to much snow to ride so when it thaws this spring i will ride it a little more then drop this oil and put synthetic Amsoil in and consider it as broke in as its gona get.

just a side note, it only takes about 20 min to break in a motor. During this time keep the rpm's up so you will have lots of oil pressure and flow to keep everything well lubed. I am only talking about the rings, and valvetrain, everthing else is a hard part and does not need breaking in.
