does anyone know what 1980`s skidoo stratus 500 and 1980`s yamaha phazer are like for speed, handling, reliablity? could they keep up at all any where with a yammie viper 700 or polaris fusion 900? or would you all ways be left way behind? whats a good 1980`s sled thats quite fast and can be picked up for a good price?
thnx

you'd wouldn't be left in there dust you'd be so far behind there dust would have been settled by the time you got there, if your looking for a cheap sled look at a early 90's yamaha vmax600 or 700 they go for pretty cheap

ok what about a 80`s indy 600 that i was told has been bored to 800(is that even possible?). same i guess ,hey?
how fast are vmaxes?
what about yamaha exciter liquid cooled they are about 580cc or 600cc i believe? they will still leave me in the dust? the riding i would be doing is on fields with drifts and everything and ditches ,not trails though
is there any early 90`s or 80`s sled that could keep a viper or fusion in sight?

I had a 2003 rx1 and the only good thing on that sled was the motor. It was really top heavy and had a terrible suspension, I only kept it one season and just traded it on a 06 griz. I heard that most of the big 2 strokes were faster but I raced 2 2005 mach z's a 2004 f7 s mxz800 rev and a regular mxz and beat them all 2 out of three times, on the third run the 1 mach cought me at the very top end, as for the apex you can't go wrong, totally new sled including the motor its a bit pricey but so is the mach and the fusion

mach1's like the 583's? is your talking about the 583's they are good sleds for trails my parents might buy one and really reliable i am not too sure about the speed and suspension beause i have only driven one for about 2 mins but my dad seems to like them, about the triples me and my friend were talking about them the other day because his dad went and looked at them but he doesn't like them because if it ever blows its about 2000$ to rebuild i am not sure what you mean by driving range?

Is arctic cat a good make? i have noticed for the same yr they seem to be cheaper than makes like skidoo ,yamaha and polaris. why is that?
