Tranny Question
#1
First of all, I have sold my pride and joy. I haven't had one single problem with this raptor other than the one-way that went out a while back(Fixed myself with the L&A). Then, the person that I sold it to had it for 4 days and the chain snapped. It got wound up in the sprocket and chipped a little bit of the casing, but nothing to be worried about. Now, on idle, it sounds like something clanking around in the bottom just a little, but in second, sounds like it's going to blow. It's not an 01 so it's not known for weak parts, but what is usually the case? I took off the one-way side of the casing and everything looks good. Put it back together and took off the tranny side, but too scared to go any further. Looks like the motor has to come out, the top end and jug needs to be removed, and the cases split! Any info. on what may have went bad, shortcuts, wether or not to start pulling apart, or anything would be helpful. It's not mine anymore, but this is my friend so I feel obligation to help. Thanks!

Their is oil line in the bottom of your oil tank, you can unbolt it from the tank (do so) you'll find a SCREEN, if that screen has METAL DEBRIS on it, You have a problem.......
Most likely when the chain snapped and wound up on the counter sprocket, it stopped the gear box right now and did some kind of damage, GEAR DOGS, SHIFTING FORKS ect.........
If the screen is CLEAN, then you might of damage a tranny bearing or such.......
Your friend would be smart to stop riding it and do some investigation to what the problem is....JMO Good Luck
