Default Race Ready Blaster Questions

Happy New Year! I'm new to the forum and have a couple of questions. I am very close to buying a Race Ready Yamaha Blaster and although not new to ATVs, I have never bought a race ready quad before. Now, for my questions. Worse case, if they engine is worn out what kind of money would I be looking at to replace? I'd like to know up front just in case the man I'm buying it from is not being honest. Lastly, any tips for what to look out for when buying a used race ready Blaster? Great forum and I thank you in advance.

Hey Welcome To The Forum, No, I Dont Know How Much Money U Will Be Looking At For Messed Up Motor. But I Can Help U Out On What To Check For.

-Check For Cracks In Plastic
-Look At Seat For Rips
-Look At Frame For Cracks, Dents, Or Welding Areas
-Look At Exhaust For Cracks Dents, Or Welding Areas
-Look At Carberatoer For Any Problems

-Last, Ask The Owner If U Can Ride It. To See How It Is.

The blaster is probably the cheapest motor on earth to rebuild ..Basically $85 for a piston kit and wrist pin bearing and a bore and hone run's 50-$75 bucks..Worst case scenerio it would be on it's last bore at .80 over and would have to have a new sleeve pressed in which would probably be around $200 for the sleeve and labor..If your worried about if the motor has been abused take a compression tester with you and see how much compression the motor has..Anything under 120lbs and its probably getting time for a rebuild..On the other end of the stick if its a race motor and has 160lbs + it will need to run a higher grade of fuel to prevent detonation..
