Default Riding through Water/Sreams

I have an 06 bruin 4x4 ultramatic 350, I drove across a brook that was sorta deep, should I be worried about water getting into my V belt? I have less than 6 hours on the atv.

there are to mane things to be worried about when going in water that is deep. First where your air intake is. Usally at front top of seat by the gas tank. second where your belt breather is. This is easy to find. All you have to do is find belt cover and follow the pipe at the front top of it up till it ends. If water getis in that then you need to ether open up to dry or let it dry on its own. If water gets in air intake then you have a problem

If all the duct work is installed correctly, and the clamps are on correctly and tight...the only way water can get in, is thru the open ducts , one at the front of the machine, (under the hood), and one back by the taillight. If the water was lower than the headlights, it shouldnt get in. If it does get in, theres a removeable plug , at the bottom edge of the cvt cover, which can be pulled out, and allows the water to drain out.
If you do swamp it, get it to the point where the water is lower than the floorboards, and pull the drain plug. Running the motor at a fast idle in neutral, will help to move air thru it, and dry things faster. If you just let it idle, the pulleys wont rotate, the rpms need to be higher than the centrifical clutch engagement, which is about 1800 rpms. And you ll need to do the clutch maintance in a reasonable timeframe, then no damage will happen.

Wow, thanks for the fast responses. I havent gone under my headlight just over a brook. I had to hold my feet up a tad bit so they didnt get wet. That plug on the bottom of the v belt, do you need pliers to take that off? It seems rather secure.

Yep, it sure helps to use a pliers, but if you goop the plug up with silicone grease, when you install it, itll pop out much easier the next time. If the water that comes out is dirty or muddy looking, then the primary weights need to be cleaned and relubed. Its not something that can be done on the trial, so do it when you get home, and before the next ride.

15 hours..whoops, the second day I had it I went riding through mud, snow, and over the said brook. Was a pretty intense ride, I guess I'll have to take it easy for the remaining 10'ish hours

yea.... im not saying that if u ride it hard the first 15 hours it will break down or anything.... its just recomended that u should take it easy for the first 15 hours kuz sumtime in the future it might start breaking down. i remember wen i got my first little 100cc quad i went crazy on that thing since the second i sat on it and i didnt know that u should break it in first and after a couple years it broke down kuz of that and i didnt do much maintenence. after ur 15-20 hours u should change ur oil. if u think u should do sum more maintenance than check ur manual or call the dealer or sumthing and they'll tel u wat to do.

ok, thanks for all the advice, I need to buy a service manual to find all these parts you guys talked about. I am definately bringing it in after 20 hours for the first service. After that I will try to maintain it myself. I bought the 4 year extended warranty since I am such a non mechanical person. Hope I dont have to use it though.
