New to the forum and got a queston since sounds like someone's kid got hurt. My grandkid really wants to race but am having a hard time getting anyone to let him sign up since he is handicapped. Thought they couldn't discriminate. Anyone know about that? He rides really good around my acreage here in the country. See, he's ten and blind, but I rigged him up with this two way radio set and if I stay on the line and tell him how to turn he does real good at keeping on course. Only taken a couple of spills, nothing real serious. Racing people say they don't want to be responsible for the liability but I told them me and his mom would sign a waiver. They still say no. He's got his heart set on it, especially since his dad died and he used to be a racer himself. I hate to disappoint the little guy. Wondered if you guys thought a lawyer might help. Thanks.

First I'd like to say I commend you for the strong faith in your grandson.
Second, this story has touched me so much I'm trying to get ahold of the SJR to write a story on you and your grandson.

Hello again, Folks. I see some of you people live in the Springfield area and I live around those parts too. I was thinking that if I can't get my little guy in a race any time soon, him being blind and everything, that maybe if you have youngsters around his age that we could all get together and ride around some weekend. Just so he can get used to riding around other people. Like I said, he does a real fine job using that two way I got him fixed up with, he's just not used to riding with anyone else around. As long as your kids didn't get too close to him at first, I think it would be just fine. It would be great practice, and if you think he did a good job, maybe you could even help me talk to those racing fellas about him being pretty good for a little handicapped blind boy. It sure would mean a lot to him, and to his mama too. Let me know if you all think it might be something fun to do, I got me a nice piece of land we been racing on out here and you'd be welcome to come and bring your kids. I know it would just tickle little Andy to pieces. Think about it, ok?

Miss Polly, you are a saint! Why I never even thought about talking to a reporter, that's just a fine idea! You must be a wonderful mother to understand what my little Andy means to us. It was so hard for him and his mama to come to terms with his daddy's passing last year. He was on that organ donor list for almost three years and they never found him a liver. I told him he needed to quit drinking a long time ago, but you know, sometimes the good Lord don't give your kids the sense he gave a mule, and my boy was a real jackass sometimes. I am sure you know what I mean, all that drinking and such. Anyway, little Andy is growing up tp be a fine boy, not like his daddy. He does real good in school, and even got him one of those dogs that leads him around sometimes. He does real fine for not being able to see nothing. I was trying to think of a way to get the dog to ride with him, even tried hooking him on the back with an old seatbelt I had, but he got real agitated and kept chewing it and barking, and then Andy couldn't hear me on the two way, so I thought better of it. But Miss Polly, getting a story in the paper is a fine idea. And like I said, if any of your kids want to come to my place and race, you are welcome to come!

That sounds fine to me MX dad! How about this weekend? I got some time Sunday afternoon, if you want I can give you my number and you can give me a call and I can give you all directions. Bring as many friends with you as you want to. Andy need to learn to be more sociable if we are gonna get him used to racing in a crowd of people. He gets a little jumpy, but that Ritalin has helped him a whole bunch. His concentration is so much better and he hardly ever breaks out cussing any more like he used to. Are you folks religous at all?

Serious about having you over to my place to race? Sure! If I know how many of you all want to come maybe I can talk the mrs into fixing us some barbecue or something. Andy's gonna be so excited! We got some cats on the property, so if any of your little ones have allergies or somethng I better let you know that up front. Or else I guess I could just shoot them, I hate those dang cats anyway. My wife likes em, I got no use for them myself.

I better not give it to you here, but if you got an e mail I can give it to you there. I never used one of these forum things before and I want to make sure you aren't one of them perverts. Not that I have anything against them people, my wife made me go see that cowboy movie last weekend. Let me tell you something, John Wayne would have kicked those boys hind ends. So give me your email and I will give you my address and phone number so you can call me.
