Default 2001 Raptor with no 2nd gear

I have a 2001 raptor that has no second gear. When I shift out of 1st it is as if I am in neutral. I then can shift into 3rd, 4th and 5th. Do I need a new trans? If so what type should I go after and is there any other mods I can do while I am there? Also any idea on price? Thank you in advance.

Yeah sounds like you need a tranny. Go to RAPTOR TRANNY . There is a lot of info there

Tranny is gone, I wouldn't ride it until you get the work done. Can't remember what it cost me to have the work done.

To do's once the engine is apart. Get a carillo connecting rod, install a high compression piston, 11:1, and you can run premium, port and polish. My connecting rod was ding'd after my tranny blew. I have heard of a few breaking and had wished I dropped the extra $200 or so on the carillo rod.

How is your starter clutch? If you have experienced problems with it, throw in an L&A one way while you are at it.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

That raptortranny.com website is fantastic. If you have time on your hands, that web site is great with detailed instructions. I used it to replace my starter clutch and it was right on the money.
