hi. im new to the forums and have a qustion. im rebuilding motor on my 02 raptor 660 for the third time and have heard rumors of rods failing on older raptors. motor has stage one hotcam, ported polished head. lrd full exhaust dynojet jet kit. proflow intake adapter. and is now getting a weisco 11:to1 .0030 over piston. do you guys think the rod will hold up?. also what kind of jets would you suggest running with this set up. also run with airbox lid off.
opinions would be great. thanks.

 

Ive been running the stock rod for 2yrs now with the wiseco stock bore/ stage 1 hc. I just upgraded to a HC S2 and I know the rod will let go any time now. I think you should be fine if the rod looks good, no discoloring or fractures.

EDIT:

The kibble white springs wont make a difference if you just go with a stage 1. The nology wire did make a small difference, enough to make me jet up one size.

 

Run Lucas Oil additive, it helps keep the small end of the rod lubricated.

 

got a part number or specific name for this additive?

 

where can i find a nology wire?

 

I know craycraft carried them not too long ago, havent really looked around to find them anywhere else but I've heard there are quite a few places that have them.
