Default Banshee Thumb Throttle Question

I recently took ownership of my late brother's Banshee, and I had a issue with the thumb throttle. For some reason it seems to be very stiff (for lack of better words), the action of the throttle is fine BUT it after about 15 minutes of riding my thumb is super tired. I used to own a 1994 Banshee and it was modified very similar to the way this one is, but I dont recall the thumb throttle to be that way.

Is there a spring to loosen or something that can be done to make this a user-friendly thumb throttle for long rides? I would never make it on a 2 hour Glamis ride with the thumb throttle this way.

Thanks

Also, I dont like twist throttle conversions (been there done that).

Default Banshee Thumb Throttle Question

I installed a 400ex thumb throttle on mine and cured the sore thumb issue!

Default Banshee Thumb Throttle Question

whoa, a 400ex throttle? It worked? I realize why the throttle is so stiff, its because of the larger carbs that are installed on the bike.

So I take it that there probably isnt a wat of loosening anything, ... i have to probably replace the whole throttle assembly right?

Default Banshee Thumb Throttle Question

Maybe some extra leverage would help overcome the pressure of those bigger springs. They make extended levers that clamp on to the existing one, but they are big and kind of hokey. But I have also seen longer billet levers that replace the stock one entirely. You might clamp on or bolt up something temporary and see if extra length helps, and if it does then order a permanent solution.
