Which would be a better quad? I like both of em but can't decide. I recently saw a white and silver 700 at my local yamaha dealer and thought it looked sweet! Then I heard the 450R basically sat up the same height and had the same seat hight and same size tires and wheel travel, etc, etc. I don't know this, but i figured if they are so similar how can i choose? then i heard the 450R is faster and quicker. Is this true? Which has a higher top speed? And which would win in a short drag? and which has better potential to go fast, for the cheapest amount of money. thanks

 

stock for stock, the 700 is faster, mod for mod the 700 is faster, just my 2 cents

I recently raced a piped 450r with my "virtually" stock 700 and beat him everytime. (I do have a PCIII). There's one big difference here, I've been riding for 14 years, he hasn't. I see threads all the time where people argue about which quads are faster, etc, etc, etc......When two machines are close in comparison, (like the 450r and 700r) its all about the rider......practice, practice, practice....and you'll be kicking alot more @ss on whichever machine you pick! That is "if" they are stock or at least close in mods.

I purchased the 700r because I like the aggressive styling but really, its about personal preference. Yamaha's have treated me good...so far.

Good luck quad shopping. By the way, I paid $6800 OTD for my 2006 Raptor 700 in December.

I would love to say that the raptor is faster but the atv mags. say differ although me myself say raptor is better overall the 450r handling sucks you cant hit turns with out almost losing control but its fast on the start tops out at 74 mph not to sure what the raptor tops out at but i know it would take it for a fact on the long run look into the yfz 450 that was best over the honda 450r but the honda is faster in the end but if you have 1500 to through for your suspension go with the honda the raptor 700 is nice everything about it the comfort the speed the handling HAnDs DOwn RAPTOR 700

 

You are usually going to get a very biased opinion here since it is in the yamaha forum, but heres my two cents. I think the only way a 450R would be able to beat a raptor with similar mods and close rider experience is if the 450r was a 2006 model. It received a few upgrades which now compares to the YFZ's. I would say they both have around the same potential to go fast, so it depends on your size and riding style. If you are a bigger guy and like to ride trails, go with the 700R. If you are smaller and like to stay on top, go with the 450R.

 

Here I go again....lol. I raced a couple piped 06 450Rs and won everytime but before I pat myself on the back too much, keep in mind that neither one had the HRC kit. The 06s are suppose to be fast movers with the kit.

The HMF pipe sounds great, not as loud as i expected, with optional quiet core, its a great set up

 

The 06, hondas are going to be faster then the RAptor 700.. Ok say what you want who ever own a raptor, but the trutch behold that the 06 honda is complety redisgned and has more power. Enough to woop on the yfz-450. But if you really want to know the secret go with the Suzuki Ltr-450 it takes everything.
