Everyone can continue too despute HP numbers all night long. The fact of the matter is, the Raptor has never pulled down a win in a District race, GNC, GNCC or any other type of AMA events. End of story.

Just too add fuel too the fire. I remember the 400EX winning races only weeks after it's introduction. Honda dominates racing because of handling, not HP.

Look at honda and suzuki. Both stopped making High performance atvs because of lawsuits.
Yamaha is doing a great job by building machines that are not so powerful "out of the box", but with very simple modifications gain a lot of power. This makes it a lot harder to take yamaha to court if you modified the machine yourself.

Just a quick note: I think the engine was detuned simply to keep the drivetrain intact. (Quads have a heck of a lot more traction than dirt bikes or street bikes, Yamaha didn't need gears flying out of thier new engine cases due to extra power, or chains breaking)

And secondly, Dodge spent over 6 months De-tuning the Viper motor, because it was making 800plus horsepower in the original specks, only they spent all that time de-tuning it to keep people like us from putting a chip in it, and destroying 737's on take off.

Just by reading this post, you can see why Yamaha or Honda, or Suzuki or anybody would want to de-tune a motor. We are FREAKS!

It seems like everyone here wants a 4 Stroke ATV that can outrun the State Trooper Camaro, AND handle well in the trails, AND beat the 250R on the MX track, AND run on Hydrogine Poroxide!

Can't we let it rest at the Raptor is a nice quad with lots of low end torque? Well doesn't that sum it up??

CT not only changed the air intake and exhaust but they also changed the fuel via the main jet, slow jet and needle positions.

It would seem to me this would make a difference.

Someone asked, "Would Yamaha purposely restict the engine?" Well if you own a raptor take the airbox lid off and look down the intake tube. You will find that it has 1/3 of the opening blocked to inhibit airflow! I would think they did that on purpose wouldn't you?

I have already bent an axle and front wheel. It does not get babied.

Mods:
DuraBlue Axle +3-+5 (Makes bike handle like a 400)
Renthal handlebars
12 tooth front sprocket (replaced with stock)
41 tooth rear sprocket (thats the ticket)
Lone Star +3 A-Arms (on order)
TCS no-load front shocks (on order)
Steel braided brake lines (on order)
