I just went and bought a raptor 700r. I am so excited right now. I only got to ride it for about 10 min. Can anyone suggest front and rear shocks for it? I already ordered full skid plates. Also i am either getting the trinity racing stage IV kit or GYT-R carbon fiber muffler, header and high flow air filter

Don't bother doing any internal or external performance mods until you buy a fuel injection module such as Dynojet Powercommander IIIusb or trinity's system. Running without it will only lean out your fuel/air mixture and possibly burn up your engine. Don't bother with GYT-R exhaust, overpriced for what you get. You will probably get close to the same results by just taking out the baffle and spark arrestor. I have heard good things about these exhaust: trinity, hmf, sparks, ct, lte. Suspension depends on how much you want to spend.

Nice. I'm considering buying a 700r or a harley this spring. Have any 1st year issues, or anything come up on the 06 raptor? Hate to buy a first year raptor considerig the 660's first year.

Im not positive which brands are availible yet, so correct me if im wrong. You can get Elka's for pretty cheap, most people go with Elka's, but its mainly due to over-advertising. If you want to go all out you can go with Ohlins 36PRX up front and a 46PRX in the back. As far as exhausts are concerned, I would go w/ HMF or Sparks, either is a great buy

I would definately buy an EFI Controller such as Dobeck,Trinity ect... Before or during the sametime i bought the pipe because if you dont you bike will run super lean and you will not get the full advantage of the pipe or intake you put on the Raptor. As far as exhausts i would not get the GYT-R just because there not that great of pipe. They are over priced and are cheap made. Also performance isn't to good. Myself i was looking at all the pipes out so far and i hadn't heard anything bad about HMF so that is what i went with. Hope this helps... Jamie Mace

Hi,

Well done on your new Yamaha YFM 700R. I'm also is the market to buy one very soon too. I'm very new to the sport and I so very much love it. One thing though that I can't really understand, is why do people always change and mod their brand new quads, especially considering that they are not cheap machines in the first place??? Does that mean that when I get my 700R it will a lot of changes?

Also would you know of companies that do decals and specialised designer stickers for the quads, being the 700R?

Thank you and once again, the very best of luck on your new Yamaha YFM 700R ....

Ive seen just about every exhaust on the market except Looney Tune(which is a dual exhaust), and I liked Trinitys header design the best. The y pipe is the furthest back and has a high flow collector. On the flip side, Trinity didnt do a very good job with the flange from the intermediate pipe to the muffler. The pipe was protruding through the 4 bolt flange which would prevent a seal. I just took the pipe to a belt sander and machined it flat with the flange and no problem since. Another negative point about Trinity is that when you let off the gas, the exhaust whistles.

I run the Dynojet Programmer because it has alot of potential. I run the Pro Design intake, because ive used their products on previous quads and the quality is very high.
