Default Advancing Cam Timing on Warrior

Anyone ever advance the cam timing on a Warrior? I had to replace the short block on my 96 Warrior because the crank bearing went. The new short block came out of a 2004 Warrior. Eversince I replaced the shortblock, the bike doesn't seem to be as fast off the line...otherwise it seems fine. I initially had the cam timing off a tooth (retarded) but I fixed that right away. Now the cam gear marks line right up with the TDC matrks on the crank. It ran MUCH better but still seems like it doesn't have as much bottom end as before and I did not change anything else. I was thinking of advancing the timing a tooth but not sure why I would need to do that or if I even should. Is there any sort of difference between the 96 Warrior engine and the 2004 that you guys are aware of that I would need to adjust? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There shouldn't be any differences between the 96 and 04. Maybe the valves aren't adjusted to specs or something like that.

Yeah, I probably should just tweak everything out for the new block. Although the cyl head is the same, its probably not a bad idea to make some fine tune adjustments. Thanks for the input.
