Default Why Me I've been good!

I just purchased an 06 Raptor 700r Special Edition February 11th when I picked it up it ran just fine, when I got it home and really rode it for the first time it started backfiring and cutting out really bad. So, I called up my dealer and he said to check the fuel which was a no duh, then he said to check the plug and if that didn't lead me anywhere that I would have to drive one way an hour and a half out of my way to take it back that way they could check it out. No way did I want to do that so I pulled the plug and sure enough it was fouled so I replaced it and it ran fine. Then the next day I got on it and took off and it ran fine for a few minutes and then it started cutting out and backfiring again. So this time I just cleaned the plug with a wire brush and carb cleaner put it back it it started up just fine and idle for about 2 or 3 mins. I thought alright lets see what happens took off on it again made it about fifty yards from my house and it started the same stuff again so I went back to the house shut it off waited about ten minutes pulled the plug the dang thing was fouled again less then 5 minutes of running and it re fouled the plug. Does any one know what the heck my problem is cuase I have had it for less than 48 hrs and it already a hassel.

i'm sorry to hear that.....i've had mine since december and have had no problems at all. now yesterday i fouled a plug, but it was my fault ....i didn't let it warm up before i rode it....put a new plug in it and now it runs great. it also has the full GYTR exhaust , intake and a power commander.

Hey Rapman06, Looks like you have issues with the fuel injection. If your dealer is any good he will have a computer that he can hook your Raptor up to, to run diagnostics etc on it. You will see the plug for it under your seat at the back. I have not heard of this issue before maybe someone else has?

Sounds like there could be something blocking the air intake. Otherwise, the EFI is malfunctioning. You might want to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect so it can reset the computer.

Need More info. Is your bike smoking from the exhaust pipe? and if so what color is it. Need to determin if your plug is oil or fuel fouled. Check your oil resivoir to make sure the dealer did'nt over fill it, also check your air box and filter for oil residue or air restriction.

Have you made any modifications like pulling the lid off the air box or the baffle out of the muffler?

Check the wiring to the emergency brake. If you try to ride it with it on, it will cut the ignition out bad. Im sure your not doin this, but worth a look.
