banshee/blaster replacment
#2
For the Blater I defiently think it will be replaced by a 250 4-stroke sport quad. However, I don't think that they will bring anything to the table to replace the 'shee, since they alreasy have a 4-stroke sport quad in that engine class.

Yeah it sure is a shame to see them both go...But you never know whar yamaha has in store for us. I think the blaster will have an all new light weight chassis with the yz250f motor installed. I only see one thing wrong with this. See don't those bike motors put out like 31-32 h.p.? So no as long as the quad weights less thas 400lbs, its gonna be faster than a z400, and a 400ex, right? and its only a 250, thats amazing! i would sell my z and my raptor for one of those if i am right about how fast they could be. But knowing yamaha they are gonna de-tune them just like the yfz's.

Yamaha really doesn't have a place in their lineup for another sport quad, they already have the market completely covered, so I highly doubt we'll see a banshee replacement. I think yamaha's original intention with the raptor may have been to phase out the banshee because of all the envirionmentalists crying about it.

Yeah but I'd love to have a quad with the YZ250 engine that is under 350 pounds. The god damn thing would fly.

While it would be extremely cool, I don't think we will be seeing a race bred 250 four stroke pushing a quad around in the next few years. There is going to be a niche opening below the Raptor 350 though, and I can see a Blaster sized 250 sliding right in. Manual (or maybe a hybrid like the Honda "sportclutch") with reverse wrapped in an all new frame. I would like to see it come in sub325lbs also. Basically a modernization of the old Quadsport/250X/Mojave.
