i have a 05 raptor 660 dies at idle spits and pops over 1/4 throttle had a friend clean out the carbs now all it does is backfire wount run for nothing and ideas ???

 

u got good fresh clean fuel in it ?

how is the spark plug ?

u sure there isnt something in the line cutting the fuel ?

I once started my 05 raptor w/ the fuel off and it ran like you described, I even drove it a short distance and it kept idling , I thought something was blown up.

I honestly am not the guy to give advise but these are just the things that come to mind

 

yes clean fuel new spark plug, carb bowls have fuel another guy said it sounded like timing but its not going to jump timing just sitting there

 

Carb intake boots off or leaking???

 

check your battery connection and do you have any kids the reason i ask is i have a 2 and half year old little girl who once tweeked my thumbe throttle adjust on the left hand side right never figured she coudl but she did any ways i got lucky and kind a of saw that it was in way to far but it took 20 minutes of scratching my head so thats why i ask .

 

e-brake

 

Sounds like an e-brake problem, or water in your float bowls. Instead of taking your carb apart to clean them out just open up the drain screw on the bottem of the float bowls. Then fire it up and see if runs then, if that isn't it, you definitly have a bad neutral safety switch on your parking brake, or maybe it is just stuck.

 

drained the gas in the bowls came out clean checked for leaks... and still spitting, popping and backfiring..... now this e brake switch is there a way to bypass it rather than going to buy a new one and that not be the problem and by the way thanks for all the help

 

all you have to do is unplug it under the front grill it will be ok.
