Stuck fuel screws... HELP!
#1
I have an '04 Raptor... i recently put on a K&N and jetkit. I need to rich it up a little, but when i went to adjust the fuel screws i found those baby's are IN THERE. I managed to strip out the brass flat-tip head a little, but stopped before i totally destroyed the heads. Any tips on getting those things out? Will an easy-out work? I've already tried solvents (WD / PB blast), but no luck. Am i going to totally destroy the threads and/or something else up in there if i try to drill it out myself? The machine shop seemed a little unsure if they could get it out... suggested i may have to buy another carb. Plus, it's $75/hr "just to look at it". Screw that (no pun intended - im not laughing!)
On the other hand, since i need to rich it up a little, could i just put slightly bigger jets in it and say 'screw the stuck screws'? Would that do basically the same thing? I'm a little new at jetting carbs, so i may be missing the concept. Any advice? PLEASE HELP!

Something's not right here, fuel screws should never be in all the way, they are usually 2 or 2-1/2 turns out. Are you SURE you're trying to turn the fuel screws?
And just turning the fuel screws isn't going to compensate for the jets being too lean, it only adjusts idle-1/4 throttle fuel ratio. If you need to richen the midrange you need to move the clip on the needle down a notch, 3/4 to full throttle is adjusted by the size of the main jet.

I don't think the screws are ALL the way in... i just think they're stuck (really stuck) in the stock position (1 1/2 out, maybe?) - but i need to go out like 3 turns. I'm 99% sure they're the fuel screws - they are brass flat-tips in a recessed hole just foward of each bowl (2 each) and the tip goes thru the casing and protrudes up and out slightly near the butterfly valve.
Good tips on the tweaking... maybe i'll try adjusting the needles and the mains. I dont have any probs at idle, anyway - just after half throttle it gets a little sluggish. When i run the throttle up in neutral, after half throttle it kinda 'cuts out', or like a 'gap' ...like it aint getting enough fuel. If i cant un-stick the screws, i'll just tweak it your way. Thanks for the tips.

Adjusting the screws isn't going to do a thing for half throttle problems, the screws only adjust idle and very low throttle. The only way to adjust midrange is the needles, and the only way to adjust top is the mains
