Default yzf450 for trail/dune riding?

hi i am new around here and im looking to purchase a new quad. main uses would be for trail riding and the dunes but will also see some wide open flat land running. my other possible choices at this time is the polaris predator 500 tld or the polaris outlaw. im lookin for an honest opinion. i know yamaha has been in the game longer than polaris but seeing all 3 of these machines are within 400 dollars of each other i want to know what my best decision is

Well how much do you weight and hieght? How much ex. you got? For trails and dunes, if you want power, go with the yfz. If you want comfort I would say get a z400 or Raptor 700r because you also get reverse with comfort, the pred is heavy and I would rather have a raptor or z. I aint saying preds are bad but they are just heavy for the dunes IMO.

I own a 06 YFZ450 and ride both trail and track - best of both worlds on this animal!!!

Yeah I would go with a yfz but if you want reverse I would say a raptor 700r. They are the same amount of $. Go to the dealer and sit on 'em and test them if you can and see what you like more.

The YFZ450 is built for agressive riding, riders, MX, etc. If you are looking for a trail machine, I suggest you go with the Raptor 700. If you are looking for a dune machine, go with the YZF450 or a Banshee. It's hard to beat a tricked out banshee at the dunes. However, we all know the issues with a Banshee......crapy suspension.

I purchased the Raptor only because I planned to do more trail riding than anything else. (Plus, it's the Cadillac of ATV's, and fast too). My buddy has a YFZ 450, which I've ridden many times, it tends to get uncomfortable after long periods of trail riding.

Just my thoughts.....

Runs a 730 kit from OMW with web109's and a 48mm lectron. It has some serious torque!

well i went to a yamaha dealer today and sat on the yfz and i will say it looks/feels better than the pred and the outlaw. reverse isnt much of an issue. also sat on the raptor but i like the look and feel of the 450. do not discredit the polaris i think its a nice quad as well just a tad on the heavy side. i like how the yfz is only like 360 lbs.
