Red hot Raptor 660 exhaust
#1
Hey guys,
This last week we were on the ranch riding. At night I was following one of the kids who goes slow (first and second gear for me...mostly just into 2nd with no rev) and noticed the exhaust pipes were glowing red hot for about three inches from the outlet. If I sped up a bit (into 3rd gear) the redness went away. Later I noticed it when the bike was idling for a bit.
Checked the coolant and it was fine. The fan was running. The oil was changed the day before we went out. The engine temp light never came on and the bike ran well and sounded good.
Is this a normal thing that I just hadn't noticed before? If not...what might be the culprit?
The bike is an 02 Raptor 660 with a DMC Alien full exhaust, K&N Filter, jet kit. These are the only engine mods I know of as I am not the original owner.
Thanks for your help.

When you say the 'whole thing' do you mean the entire exhaust front to back or the three inch section at the outlet?
The entire circumference of the pipe wasn't glowing...it was sort of streaky...much more red at the top of the pipes.
Thanks for your reply.
