i was up at silver lake sand dunes (michigan) and seen a few of them i have the 660 with pipe jet and filter and me and him were pretty neck to neck untill we started climbing then i was about 2 lengths ahead of him. you should have no problem with you neighbor because like you said he is new and you have some time on yours.

I have a 660R that I actually raced before I got my new bike and I can tell you the 700 will beat the 660 hands down by two or more bike lengths. I've ridden both and that 686 fuel injected motor just rips. It doesn't matter if your bike is piped and jetted so is mine and my neighbor has a 700 that is only piped and does'nt matter if we swap bikes it's the same result.

The biggest thing with the 700R is if the rider is rev ving it out between shifts, it slows down and gets beat by bikes that would normally lose to it. With a rider that knows how to keep the 700R in it's torque curve it will mod for mod smoke the 660, at least that has been my experience. As most 700R owners know the machine performs best when short shifted

At comp hill, in sand mountian, utah

mine with just the intake, beat my brothers 660 by about 6 lengths, and beat a piped 660 by about 1 length.

Now with the pipe, it hauls even more.
