Considering 2004 kodiak 450 need help
#1
Hi,
I have never had an ATV and am buying my first one soon. I have looked at quite a few and am not brand loyal at this point. I saw a 2004 450 for sale and it has the camo sportsman package with scabbard and winch and brush gaurd. I was wondering what those of you that have them think of them? Any particular problems with this year or style? What would a good price be on it? It has 170 miles on it. Thanks for any info.

I think it's one of the best all around machines, for what it is intended. That's to say it's not a race quad.
I use mine to trail ride, plow the drive, and the like. Works great. I've had it up to 50mph, plenty fast for me.
As for problems, nothing serious. Your rear brake will squeek every once in a while (WHO CARES).
As for price, I paid $4000 for my 2003 last year with 60 miles on it. It came with the plow, winch, a nice set of folding ramps, and a camo cover. The guy said he never took it trail riding, and I believe him because there wasn't a scratch on it.
I might have found one a little cheaper if I had shopped for a while, but it would've been hard to get a used one in better shape.

Love my 2005 Kodiak 450. Difference between the 2004 and 2005 would be the 2005 has Independant Rear Suppension. I love mine and I too had the rear brake squeak when I first got it but it has since went away. It is a great machine. I bought mine for $5999 before taxes last year. I now have around 700 miles on mine.

The guy listed it on ebay and now won't give me a price to buy it outright. He just said it will sell to the highest bidder. The bid on it now is 3900 with 2 days left. How high should I go with this ATV? there will always be others is what I'm finding.
Thanks

Oh and I wouldn't go much higher... As you say there are always others.

Thanks for the replys. I am staying away from it. the bid is at 4250 with a little over a day left. There is another one listed. A 2005 with only 2 miles on it. This one has a plow on it already but is blue instead of camo. The buy it now price is 5300, but it is about 2.5 hours away and I wouldn't get to try it out first so I will most likely pass on this one too. What do you guys think a fare price on a new camo one with a plow would be? Thanks for the info and opinions.
