Default lil problem with the carbs on a raptor

well i have a 2001 raptor 660 and ive noticed that the boots that go from the front of the carb to the head slide off every now and then. usually happens when i down shift to first andsometimes let it out to help slow down that way and i sometimes let it out a lil to fast and the back end starts hoppin a lil. well it pulls the bottom portion of the boot off and wont run. i thought i fixed the problem because one of hte boots was bad so i bought a new one but after i put it on it did it again. so i made the lil spacer in the clamp a lil smaller so i can tighten it down a lil more and did what some people with snowmobiles do (the ones runnin turbos use hair spray on the inside of that boot and it acts like glue) anyways i was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this? and if so what did u do to make it not do that anymore. oh and im sorry but i dont know the actual name of that part thats why i was calling it a boot

but thanks for any info

Upp makes stiffer boots fit stock carbs and up to 35mm this should fix the problem of them popping off. In fact there are some on ebay right now do a search and type in this auction number 4626531590.

I think it was a common problem on the 01s and the boots or the clamps were different for 02s up. Some people have had luck with grinding a little off of the clamp spacer so it squeezes a little tighter. The UPP boots will definitely solve the problem tho.

well as of this past sunday the 30th i didnt have any problems with those boots coming off and we rode around 60 miles and half of it was some real hard riding to. all i did was took that spacer in the clamp out and grided a lil off of it and used hair spray on the inside of each boot. may sound funny but my buddy told me alot of people he knows running turbos on their sleds do that and never have a problem with them coming apart.

Mine popped off one time at the top of comp hill at the dunes. It was definately a "WTF?" moment... made sure everything was sand free and slapped them back on no problems since. Make sure its clean and dry where your boots attach.
