Default cdi for yfz

How do the aftermarket rev boxes effect the yfz's? Are they worth it? Do I need to get an aftermarket cam to get the most out of one? Would you recommend one?

Default cdi for yfz

They make a difference, I bought a gytr cdi for my 2006 yfz 450 but after I installed it my bike was not running right, so I had to take it to Yamaha and get it fixed. They told me that the problems was the aftermarket cdi that I had installed was my problem. There is no cdi box made for the 2006 yfz 450, only the 2004-2005 so Im just gonna sell mine on ebay. But imo they are well worth the money if you buy the right one, I recommend GYTR

Default cdi for yfz

Checked with my dealer today and gytr still doesn't have one for the 06. They told my dealer that the cdi for the 04-05 would work, but, the mapping was identical to the 06 stock except for the 500 rpm(approx) that it would give you. Price for the gytr was around $120. There was another cdi for $189, but, it had several different mapping adjustments. 1000 and 2000 was the rpm increases though. Sounds like that would be the one to get. I would still like to hear from someone who has one first though.
