I live in the US so I don't really know what they do in AUS. The only thing I know about AUS I learned from Crocodile Dundee and Mad Max.

I "think" you right on track using 98 RON in you quad.
In the US we use a different system. We use a (RON+MON)/2 system. I'm not an expert on this but I think RON is about 10 points higher octane than the US system.

Is your 700 faster than a Roo???????

C'mon you must of learnt something from steve irwin as well surely??? hehe Haven't lined up against a roo as yet although i have come very close to running into one while flying thru a pine plantation..... They do make a mess (of the bike & the person riding it). I've been running the bike on 98 RON since its first tank so i don't think i'll go changing now but i was just interested as to what other ppl ran in their bikes but if the grading systems are different then it could be hard to distinguish.

it depends a lot on your altitude, the higher up you go the lower the octane you can run. I am at 5000 ft and run 91 octane in my 12:1 compression 686.

do a search on this you will find plenty of info.

I thought 98 RON would equal out to be something like a 95 octane non-pump fuel. If it's coming from the local petro pump then it's alright, sorry for the misunderstanding.

your a lot closer to sea level than me, even with me at 12:1 my actual compression is probally less than yours. I gain 20 lbs of compression when I go to sea level.
