Looking for a cheap racer, raptor 660?
I bought a honda foreman 500 8 months ago and have really been getting the urge for a racer. I was looking at hondas but I heard they are slow and I heard how fast the 660 is and how cheap it is and had some questions. How fast do they go stock, how reliable are they, how many miles can you go off a gallon riding hard, is 2500-3000 a good price for an 01 in good shape with low hours, what other ones would you reccomend over this one. I will just fly around on it I still need to find a good place to ride but I definitely won't be die hard racing. thanks a lot for any help.

The 660 Raptor is really hard to beat for big time grunt power, very nice riding, and ease of maintenance. Stay off the 01's like these guys say, even though I have an 01 and haven't had any problems. You can get into them well under 4K. Flip the front rims around with some flush mount valve stems, or pick up some offset front rims, then get a nice cheap Tusk G-Force rear axle for 200 bucks, and it will handle very well as the stock setup is too narrow. The 660 Raptor has got to be the best bang for the buck on the used market today in my humble opinion.

Mileage.. on a track i get around 20 miles on a tank.. in the dunes 20 - 40 miles and in trails depending i can get 60 out of a tank.
Cheap? Boy i dunno about cheap. Mines way to expensive
Realiable? Yeah i suppose.. I have allotta miles and it still runs aww ight.
for a big guy it does MX and woods well.. smaller people seem to think its top heavy and and just to big. If your thinkin about mostly track style riding if you like twitchy quick power the yfz is your ticket.. if your lookin for butter smooth the LTR is real nice and In between with good ridable power is the honda. wich for a lil cash you can make anything haul ***.

Aren't banshees hard to keep going good as far as tweaking them to get them to run right? What year was the first for the 660 01 I assume and how many gallon does it hold. I'm about 5"11 245 lbs so I probably would like the 660 thanks a lot for all the help.
