New user with a Wolverine question
#1
I've been riding wolverines for a few years now, and totally fluked out last month when I came across a NEW 2004 Wolverine on a dealership floor 200km from my farm( obviously snatched it up on the spot). I've already done a few mods to it, and have a shopping list made of what to get next. I don't have a problem with it really, but my girlfriend does; she can hardly shift the thing. I was looking into fabricating a heel/toe shifter so she can stomp on it instead of put her entire foot under the shifter to yank it up(dangerous!!). Has anyone done this mod, I've gone through the archives and saw a few people wanting to use the Moose version for the old 350 Big Bear, but none recieved any responses. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The pre-2006 Wolvs are hard to up-shift. It only gets worse when you have to put in heavier secondary clutch springs due to engine mods.
Hopefully someone will have some info for you regarding the heel / toe shifter...can't help you out there.
There are some Wolv owners that will swear theirs are not hard to shift...one even said he could shift his bare footed (that I want to see). Either they have a size 16 boot or their secondary clutch springs are mush.
If this post gets shuffled to the next page or two, without any more replies, do a "Bump" to get it back into view. There are several great Wolvy guys on here that may be able to help you out.

I kinda want that shifter myself, size 12 rubber boots don't generally fit that well in there( all I have are the steel toed variety with some heavy soles to them). I was also wondering, who is Mickey Dunlap (Dunlop?) and does FST have a web page, I was also thinking about a manual clutch conversion.

My shifter was a little notchy, but really, it was only hard to upshift when cold. Once warmed up it wasn't bad, although not as nice as the wife's Recon.

I never had a problem shifting my Wolvy. My buddies brand new is a different story, he took his to the shop a # of times to see if there was a problem with it, but like mentioned once it warmed up it was easy as pie to shift.
My neighbor that had a Wovy put one of the heel shifters on and he even tried the Moose hand shifter, but he did like the heel shifter a lot better.

Little late replying, I was watching the hockey game(stupid Oilers!). Roach007, you say your neighbor had a heel/toe shifter, was that a home built jobber or was it from Moose or Travelrite or some other make?If it takes a few days to find out, no big deal, as long as the missus know's I'm looking for her. Its not that its hard for me to shift, just awkward sometimes. Thanks for that address LotusPosition, gonna check it out right now.
