Ok guys, chime in on your thoughts. I want to get a new quad and I have narrowed it down to either the 450 or the new raptor. I ride mostly at the dunes and trails. Which would you choose and why? Let the debate begin!!!!

Both are great quads but if not hitting tracks the 700r just offers more comfort and options

Speed is close on them both, mod for mod depending on who you talk to. We wont get into which is faster debate that has been beat to death lol

700 has reverse, a better ride and doesnt feel cramped

Have no experience at dunes but im sure they are both great for that, but the 700 is a much better trail machine

I haven't been on either one, but I have read in other forums that the front suspension on the 700 may be a little soft and guys are putting 450 shocks on the 700. What's your take on that??

Just depends on your riding style. Guys a little more aggressive but still didnt want a 450, it makes a nice change for them. For me the stock shocks are fine. I have no problems from them.

How tall are you? That alone could be a determing factor. I was set to buy a 450 in September till I sat on one. I forgot all about how great the magazines said it was. The lay out was all wrong for me. The bars were to low, it wasnt comfortable.

I sat on the 700 and was sold. The EFI is great when properly tuned. Its comfortable, starts ez(no choke or carb jets to mess with) reverse is nice to back out of the toy hauler.

I ride 90% dunes and 10% desert. It handles great, front shocks are a bit soft for aggressive riding. The gap between 3rd and 4th is a little steep. This bike has crazy low end torque and mid range.

I am about 6'1" 225. What do you mean about the EFI being "properly tuned" ?
