i agree when i hear you guys talk about the yamahas being geared outside thier powerband. i want to gear my raptor down but not to much. i lives in the hills of west virginia. there are great hill climbs and i find first gear ready to go up any but when i switch to sencond it bogs down until i have time to open up in that gear. there are also a lot of great ridges up here where i can open it up. if anyone can help me what do you think the best way to gear it would be where i can get low end pull but not loose all my top

ive been hearing alot from guys who droped down one tooth on the frnt sprocket.(from 13 tooth to 12) everything i read is good as far as having a more useable 1st
an 2nd gear on trails and hillclimbs, with minimal loss of top speed. scroll down the forum and read "12 TOOTH SPROCKET A MUST"
he goes a little more into detail
concerning the swap

I geared down my raptor yesterday. I went to a 12 tooth front. It makes a big difference in the trails. I noticed a little topend loss but not much.
