Default 2005 kodiak sputtering

Went riding this weekend with the family and my "Me dad, watch this kids" attitude placed my kodiak in a couple deep mud holes.
I did have to drain the drive belt cover once. But it ran like a champ after that for the rest of the day. Started it up the next morning
with no problems and idles great. It accelerates great as long as I am not using more than 3/4 throttle. And once it hits 10mph
it starts to sputter and sounds like maybe a mis-fire.

Need some ideas
Carb
Plug
CDI - No idea where this is.

Anything would be helpful.

Id start by draining the float bowl. Get a clear glass jar to catch the gas, so you can see if theres water or crud in there. Id leave the gas tank to on, and let it flush for at least a couple of cups worth. Check out the contents of the glass jar, when youre done, and if theres just water in there...youll see it separate, then it should be ok. If you find dirt and particles floating around, then youll need to drop the float bowl and clean out the jets.
It couldnt hurt to change the plug, but probably isnt necessary.
It wont be the cdi...theres no feedback to the cdi from the thottle, so the spark doesnt care about throttle position.

check your gas breather hose and cap for obstructions... have had this happen several times before I put a stinger breather tube on my cap... There's a spot right in front of your gas tank where your hose sticks down by that gathers a lot of sticks and mud clumps and such...

Its your carb. Mine does the same thing. Run a full tank of fuel and put half a bottle of fule injector cleaner in it run it through should start running fine after that if not you have some junk in there that the cleaner can't break down.

Thanks for all the advice. I drained the entire tank and no water in it. Drained the bowl and no water in it either. I had to take the carb off and shoot out the jets with carb cleaner. Must of had a small piece of debris clogging the jet when opening up the throttle. Runs like a champ now.
