Default Wolverine tires: Titan / Carlisle 489 AT

Yesterday, I ordered a set of 23" Titan / Carlisle 489 AT tires. The stock tires on my machine are boarderline slicks! I'm really looking forward to seeing how these tires perform. A buddy of mine has had two sets on his Scrambler and he's really happy with them.

I was a little leary of going to 25" since the Wolverine is only a 350cc machine.

My buddy ran a set of 25" mud bugs on his '98, the only power upgrades he had done were jets and a k&n air filter. That bike had to work pretty hard to turn those boots when past the top of the rims in muskeg, but then again mud bugs are definitely not a light duty tire. I figured I'd compromise and went with a set of 25" Mudlite XTR's, got the size without the weight issues. I'll post some pictures once I get them mounted.

I have the 489's sitting in the garage, just waiting to get them mounted. I can't wait.

I think you will like them, I put a set of 24" Titan 489 X/T's on my Wolverine after I trashed 2 of the stock tires on a broken-off fencepost. The X/T's are the same as the AT's, except they have a groove in the center of the lugs. They have been really good tires for me. You probably did right by sticking with the 23" tires, I did notice a bit of a drop in low-end torque with the 24's, and I'm sure 25's would be even worse without some performance mods.

Cool! Thanks for letting me know. I hope to test these out in about a week or so.

I finally had these mounted! I took them around the yard last night, so I can't really comment on how they handle. I hope to have a full review over the next few days. I will say, they certainly look a lot better than the beat up stockers I was running!

The 489's are a good all around trail tire. You won't be disappointed that you bought them.

Personally, I would like to get rid of mine and try out a set of Carlisle badlands XTR radials. Weight wise they are about the same. Ride wise I really liked them on my sportsman. I think they helped smooth out the trails a little bit. I have also been looking at the new ITP Terracross radials. Those look awesome but haven't been able to read a review on them yet.
