Default yamaha grizzly 660 2002 coolant fan problem

does anyone have any idea why the radiator fan comes on so much on my 2002 grizzly ? i would rather have more than less cooling but some times it gets so hot that i can be going forward and it acts like my reverse rev limiter is engaging. it just looses all power and will sometines kill. help.

sounds like the boiling gas issue... Have you taken it back to the dealer for the recall they had out on it? Even with the recall fix, it still happens, just not as much... It's happened on my 06 as well... course it was 90 some degrees out and I was practically up to my seat in mud... but hey.... I like reliability... (which is why I'm getting an 07... gas tank doesn't sit above the engine anymore.. )

I would try to find some mods online that might help reduce the engine heat on the gas tank... (better heat shielding)

good luck!

Make sure the coolant overflow tank, has coolant in it, to the proper level.
Then make sure the outside of the radiator is clean, and it may take some work to flush out all the trapped mud and dirt in the fins. A garden hose and soapy water should do it, but if you use a pressure washer..be careful.
